5th Annual ECCC 5K Run

We held the first annual Emory Critical Care Center 5K in October of 2018. It was created as a way to let critical care faculty and staff know that “I see you (ICU)”: that we recognize that jobs in critical are demanding physically, emotionally and spiritually. We wanted to create a space where we could come together as a work family to celebrate our wins and honor those losses that we have held with us over the past year. Former patients and their families are invited to join us and share their “Stories of Survival” with us to remind us of the incredible impact we have on the lives of members of the community.  

While we had to hold off on hosting this run in 2020 and 2021 because of the COVID pandemic, we brought the race back in 2022, this time with a new name. The Alyssa Majesko Memorial 5K was named in honor of a beloved Emory critical care physician and palliative care champion who also loved triathlons. 

• 7:30-8:30 AM: Check-In, Coffee and Donuts!
• 8:30-9:00 AM: Tribute to Dr. Alyssa Majesko and Warm Up
• 9-10 AM: Run/Walk 5K
• 10-10:15 AM: Awards
• 10:15-11:15 AM: "Stories of Survival"
• 11:15 to Noon: Hang Out and Enjoy King of Pops!

Do I have to pay?

No, this event is FREE! With registration, you will be able to join the race (if desired), food/drink, t-shirt and music. We do accept donations which will go towards the ECCC Wellbeing Initiative to help support wellness activities throughout the Emory Critical Care Center.

Do I get a free T-shirt?

YES! You will be able to get a T-shirt. 

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

There will be free parking at the Clairmont Campus in the Starvine parking deck.

What time should I show up if I'm NOT running?

We recommend showing up BEFORE 9:30am if you're not planning to run/walk the 5K.

Can I complete this race with a stroller or wheelchair?

We have updated the course design this year so it is now stroller friendly although there are some big hills just FYI!

What happens if it rains?

The event will go on rain or shine! We will have tents to sit under so you will be protected from sun and rain!

Can I bring my spouse?

Yes! We just ask that they also register.

Can I bring my child(ren)?

Yes! We ask that if you are bringing children 12 years or older that you register them.

Can I bring my dog?

No, pets will not be allowed unless they are a therapy dog.

Can I register the day of the race?

Yes you can! But a T-shirt cannot be guaranteed.

Will this race be individually timed (ie: RFID timing)?

Yes and you will be able to find your individual times online after the race. 

Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends?

Yes! As long as there is one ticket per person the name does not have to match.

What if I can't come but I still want to make a donation?

I'm glad you asked! There is an option to make a donation at the top of the homepage. Thank you!
